Description
Pharrell Williams’s up-tempo and catchy song Happy first appeared in the film Despicable Me 2 in 2013. It was released as a single which reached No. 1 in countries across the world, including the UK and the US. The lead single in Williams’s studio album Girl, it became the most downloaded song of all time in 2014.
In this flexible arrangement for elementary recorder quintet (S S A/T A/T T/B), the middle section features clapping effects, which makes a fun and useful rhythmic challenge for novice players.
The two alto parts can alternatively be played on tenors. The lowest part can be played on tenor, bass or great bass, depending on availability of instruments and players. Additional transposed parts are supplied for treble and bass to read in C if desired, and bass parts are also supplied in treble clef for maximum convenience. An optional extra beginner part is also included.
Difficulty
Parts are approximately grade 1-3, apart from the easy optional beginner part which uses basic rhythms and just four notes (low D, low E, G and A).
