Description
This set of three dances is taken from Telemann’s well-loved Wedding Divertissement from 1718. The original work survives incomplete, but contains seven short and charming dance movements including this Minuet, Bourée and Gigue. Although originally consisting of just two lines of music, the harmony supplied in the bass figures gives a starting point for this fully-worked arrangement for recorder ensemble.
Designed with an easy quartet at its core, the arrangement is also perfect for bigger groups welcoming mixed ability players and near-beginners.
- A minimum of 4 players is required (S A/T T B); other parts are optional and designed to be used for larger and mixed ability ensembles
- Bass and Great Bass parts are supplied in both bass and treble clef; the Bass part is also offered in a transposed version to read in C
- The Treble part is also supplied in a transposed version to read in C
Difficulty Level
- SAT parts are all straightforward, at an easy/medium level of around Grade 1-3
- The second part can be played on Treble or Tenor recorder, for groups without treble readers
- The optional Easy Descant part is of a pre-Grade 1 level with simple rhythms, a range of low D to B (apart from one low C) and in the key of G major. It can also be played on Tenor recorder
- The bass part contains some higher notes and trills. It is also supplied in treble clef and in a version to read in C
- The Great Bass part adds a layer of depth but is not essential
