Description
This pair of courtly Menuets is taken from Joseph Bodin de Boismortier’s Sixième Suite op 35, originally for flute and basso continuo, published in Paris in 1731. The Menuet is a French baroque court dance, cheerful and elegant in character.
- A minimum of 5 players is required (S A A/T T B)
- There are optional parts for great bass and contrabass.
- The Descant 2/Treble 1 parts are essentially the same and may be played with either one or both instruments.
- The Treble 2 part is supplied with an option to read in C fingerings.
- All bass parts are supplied with options for reading in treble clef and in C fingerings.
Difficulty Level
- The Descant 1 part is of Medium difficulty (Grade 2/3) and offers an opportunity to explore some French style ornaments.
- The Descant 2/Treble 1 part has a limited range of notes and rhythms and is suitable for novice (pre-Grade 1) level players.
- All other parts are Easy (around Grade 1-2) with very straightforward rhythms.
