Henry Mancini’s Baby Elephant Walk was originally heard in the soundtrack to the 1962 American film Hatari! 

Written to accompany a playful scene in which three baby elephants bathe in a waterhole, the catchy and memorable tune gained lasting popularity. It has been used many times in TV advertisements, children’s programmes and even in an episode of The Simpsons. Henry Mancini’s original Grammy award-winning score featured a calliope (steam-whistle organ) – a sound which is also evocative of high recorders. In this arrangement, the lower two parts may be played on Treble and Tenor recorders, for ensembles without access to bass recorders.

• A minimum of 4 players is required
• There are a number of flexible options for instrumentation
  Option 1: Sno S B Gb (preferred)
  Option 2: Sno S A/T T (where no basses are available)
  Option 3: Sno S A/T B

• The arrangement can also be enjoyed with lower octave doublings on the lower two parts as long as the bottom part is taken on the Great Bass or lower. However for larger ensembles please see the bigger arrangement MM-09
• Treble clef options and transposed parts are supplied for basses

Difficulty:

• The Sopranino and Descant parts require good dexterity and confidence (Grade 6 +)
• All other parts are medium difficulty (Grade 4/5+)
