Description
Camille Saint-Saëns’s 1886 orchestral suite, Le Carnaval des Animaux features the famously virtuosic Volière (The Aviary) depicting the buzz and chirruping of a birdhouse and the humming flight of the inmates. The original is a tour-de- force for a solo flute, accompanied by two pianos and strings.
This virtuosic arrangement was written for the recorder quintet Fontanella in 2010.
